Former Buc Signs With Swedish Club

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University Men’s Soccer program as grown accustomed to seeing alumni playing at the professional level and Devala Gorrick is yet another player continuing his playing career with a new contract overseas.

Gorrick, a former goalkeeper for the Bucs from 2007-’08, signed with Ik Frej a Swedish Club located in Taby, Kyrkby.

The club currently plays in Division 1 Norra, which is in the third division of Swedish soccer. They play their home matches at the Vikingavallen in Täby.

“I’m excited to be with IK Frej and to be playing under goalkeeper coach Swede-legend Magnus Hedman. I look forward to being the starting keeper as we prepare to play in Swedish cup next month against the top teams in Sweden,” Gorrick said.

IK Frej is an affiliated team of the Stockholms Fotbollförbund.

Gorrick started his professional experience at Miami FC, a USL Division 1 team in Florida.

Having played over 97 caps in his career, Gorrick has played with the likes of Ajax Orlando Prospects, Central Florida Kraze, Bayamon F.C. in Puerto Rico, Pattaya United, and most recently Airforce United.

A native of Moundsville, West Virginia, Gorrick also trained with the United States' International Team in 2009 as they prepared for the 2010 World Cup.
