MACON, Ga. -- Four Barry University men's golfers were selected to the NCAA Division II Ping All-South Region Team.
Senior Marcus Segerstrom, juniors Scott Smyers and Jared Dalga and freshman Adam Svensson all received the region honor.
Barry and Nova Southeastern each had four players selected, which were the most for any school in the region. A total of 17 players received the honor.
Segerstrom had a 73.21 stroke average and six top-10 finishes this season. He won the Flagler College Jennison Memorial in the fall. Segerstrom had 119 birdies, which tied for second in school single-season history. His 73.09 career scoring average ranks second all-time at Barry.
Smyers had a 72.87 scoring average and seven top-10 finishes. He finished second in the Buccaneer Invitational in April. Smyers shot a career-low 67, and set a school record for par-3 scoring at 3.0706 this season. He had a team-best five eagles in 2012-13.
Dalga had a 73.55 scoring average and five top-10 finishes. He tied for second at the Southeastern Collegiate in March when he shot a season-low 68 in the final round. Dalga had four eagles this year.
Svensson, the National Freshman of the Year, set a school record with a 71.26 scoring average. He is the only player in Barry history to average under par for the season. Svensson had seven top-10 finishes, all in his first seven events after signing in January. He had back-to-back runner-up finishes at a pair of tournaments in Georgia in March. He set a school record for par-4 scoring at 4.0350.
