MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University sophomore forward Yunio Barrueta (Miami/Hialeah Gardens HS) was named to the Daktronics All-South Region Second Team.
Barrueta averaged 14.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game this year, while shooting 46 percent from the floor. He scored in double figures in 21 straight games and in 24 of the Bucs' 27 games this season. Barrueta has 12 double-doubles this year, which ranks 20th in the country.
Barrueta was named Newcomer of the Year in the Sunshine State Conference. He was also a First-Team All-SSC selection.
The Buccaneers (19-8) will play No. 26 Delta State (26-4) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at noon Saturday at Florida Southern's Jenkins Fieldhouse in Lakeland, Fla. Coverage can be found by clicking HERE.
