WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry sophomore Kimmy Twelker has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week presented by VALIC. It is the first time she has won the league's weekly award this year.

A native of Bad Liebenzell, Germany, Twelker led the No. 1 Buccaneers to a 7-2 win over No. 5 Lynn to claim the first-ever SSC women's tennis regular season title. At No. 1 doubles, the 25th-ranked Twelker and Ana Pain upset the No. 1 duo of Val Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan in a close match, 8-6. Confalonieri and Ivan had won their first 21 matches this season. Barry swept the doubles action. Twelker then improved to 10-0 in singles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Kim Przeszloski at the No. 6 flight.
