Rowing: Bucs 8 takes second in Dad Vail Heat

PHILADELPHIA -- Barry University rowing crew's Varsity 8+ finished second in its heat race at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta Friday at Schuykill River.

The Buccaneers 8 boat of coxswain Angela Dasch, stroke Beth Desmond, Kristina Boncheva, Luna Ugrenovic, Jelena Momirov, Paola Girotto, Sam McKenzie, Mandy Carper and bow Anais Foppoli crossed the finish line in 6:39.199. Humboldt State won the five-boat race in 6:33.048. Mercyhurst was third in 6:46.159.

Barry's Varsity 4 of cox Stephanie Dinkel, stroke Ellie Hartman, Rebekah Kilroy, Lulu Mariscal and bow Spiadgie Anthony was third in its six-boat heat event with a time of 7:35.522. Middelbury won the race in 7:25.411 and Florida Tech second in 7:28.176.

Racing continues Saturday. Dad Vail is the largest collegiate regatta in North America.
