PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Barry University men's golfer Adam Svensson finished second at the prestigious Monroe Invitational Championship.

Svensson shot a 9-under 69-67-69-66 -- 271 to finish two strokes behind champion Taylor Pendrith of Kent State. Auburn's Daniel Stringfellow and Elmira, Ontario native Garrett Rank tied for third at 8-under 272. Guelph's Chris Hemmerich and Virginia's Derek Bard tied for fifth at 7-under 273. 

Svensson had 14 birdies and an eagle in the four-day tournament on the par-70, 6,915-yard Monroe Golf Club course.

Past Monroe Invitational champions include PGA Tour players Dustin Johnson (2007) and Erik Compton (2001). 

Svensson, a two-time All-American for the Buccaneers and this year's winner of the Jack Nicklaus NCAA Division II National Player of the Year award, will compete in the web.com Tour's Nova Scotia Open July 3-6 on an amateur exemption.
