DADE CITY, Fla. – Barry University’s men’s golf team shot 3-under 285 in Tuesday’s final round of the Saint Leo Invitational to finish fourth.

The No. 1-ranked Buccaneers moved up two spots on the final day, finishing at 8-under 568.

South Carolina-Aiken won the tournament with a 14-under 562. North Alabama and Lynn tied for second at 566, two strokes ahead of the Bucs in the 17-team, 99-player field. Nova Southeastern and Columbus State finished a stroke behind Barry in a tie for fifth.

It is Barry’s second fourth place finish this season.

“We did a lot of good things but had to count two over-par rounds,” Bucs coach Jimmy Stobs said. “I am pleased overall with how we competed with the best Division II teams in the country.”

Barry’s Nico Cavero tied for sixth, shooting 5-under 139. He Berry Jole and Mike Anderson all shot 70 in Tuesday’s final round of the 36-hole tournament. Anderson tied for eighth at 4-under 140. Jole tied for 13th at 3-under 141.

Brandon Robinson-Thompson of South Carolina-Aiken won the tournament at 9-under 135. Lynn’s Keith Greene was the runner-up after carding a 7-under 137. Columbus State’s Robert Mize, Saint Leo’s Joey Savoie and Lynn’s Manuel Torres each tied for third at 6-under 138.

Cavero, who matched Nova Southeastern’s Richard Mansell’s 5-under in the two-day event, had three birdies in the second round.

Barry’s Mario Beltran tied for 54th at 148. He shot 75 on the final day. Eirik Groenhaug shot 76 to finish at 152. Juan Yumar, playing as an individual, shot 74 to finish at 149.

Anderson had five birdies to offset three bogeys. Jole eagled the par-5, 549-yard No. 2 hole, and had two birdies and two bogeys. Groenhaug and Yumar had two birdies, and Beltran one.

Barry tied Aiken for the field leader in pars with 123. Beltran accounted for 29 of the Bucs’ pars to tie Greene for the most in the tournament.
