LAKELAND, Fla. – Barry University men’s tennis players Ahmed Triki and Kevin Sielmann fell in the doubles semifinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association/United States Tennis Association NCAA Division II South Region Championships at Florida Southern Monday.

Triki and Sielmann, seeded first, lost to Lynn’s eventual champions Danny Riggs and Paolo Volpicelli, 8-2, in the semifinals.

Triki, also seeded first in singles, beat Rollins’ third-seeded Anton Bettink in the semifinals, 6-7, 6-4, 11-9, in a grueling third set super tiebreaker match.

Triki will play Barry’s fourth-seeded Fabian Groetsch at Buccaneer Tennis Center 4 p.m. Tuesday to decide the singles champion.

Groetsch beat second-seeded Alex Peyrot, of West Florida, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6, in another intense semifinals match.
