Women's Tennis Pair to Play for Super Bowl Title

SUMTER, S.C. – Barry University’s Linda Fritschken and Emma Onila beat Tyler (Texas) Junior College’s Joanna Savva and Paige Murdock, 6-0, 6-4, in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Super Bowl Championships Saturday.
 
Fritschken and Onila, who became the first Buccaneer doubles team to win the Super Bowl last year, will play Claremont-Mudd Scripps’ Caroline Ward and Katie Kuosman at 10 a.m. Sunday for the title at Palmetto Tennis Center.
 
Fritschken and Onila won the eight-region NCAA Division II Small College title to advance to the Super Bowl tournament, pitting the champions of the National Junior College Athletic Association, NAIA and NCAA Division III brackets.
 
The Super Bowl champions earn the right to play in the ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the United States Tennis Association Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Nov. 6-9.
