MELBOURNE, Fla. – Barry University sophomore forward Adrian Gonzalez was named the Sunshine State Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week.

Gonzalez, a product of Hialeah Gardens High School, tied the school record in Friday’s win over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez when he went 10 of 10 from the floor to finish with 22 points. His 10 of 10 field goal shooting matched Willie Whitfield’s 10-for-10 performance and 1.000 shooting percentage against West Florida on Dec. 19, 2010.

Gonzalez is averaging 13 points per game for the No. 22-ranked Buccaneers. He hit 12 of his 13 field goal attempts in the first two games of the season. His .923 field goal percentage leads the nation.

Last year, Gonzalez was named the SSC Freshman of the Year, and set a school record for field goals made in a game by a rookie when he buried 12 at No. 4 Florida Southern. He averaged 11.5 points in 2013-14.

Barry hosts Florida Memorial 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Bucs will host the four-team Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday, with the first tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.
