MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Barry University women’s tennis team was picked by the Sunshine State Conference coaches to repeat as league champs.
Barry has been crowned SSC tournament champions five consecutive seasons and eight times overall, and won last season’s NCAA Division II National Championship. Barry also won the first-ever SSC regular season title last year.
Barry received eight first-place votes and 64 points. Lynn was picked second after collecting one first-place vote and 57 points. Saint Leo is third with 49 points.
Barry went 27-1 overall, 8-0 in the SSC last season before running the table to win the national title. The Buccaneers defeated Armstrong Atlantic, 5-4, to win their second national championship.
The Bucs open the regular season Feb. 10 against Palm Beach Atlantic at home.
The Sunshine State Conference tournament begins April 23. Regional tournament play begins May 2nd. NCAA National Championship tournament play slated to begin on May 13th.
