SAINT LEO, Fla. – Barry University’s No. 3-ranked men’s basketball team set a school record with its 11th consecutive victory, beating Saint Leo 78-58 Saturday in the Bowman Center.

The Buccaneers (17-1, 9-0 Sunshine State Conference) won at Saint Leo for the first time since 2010, shooting 65 percent in the second half. Barry’s 11 consecutive wins bettered that of the 2002-03 team’s 10 straight wins.

“Wow,” Barry second-year coach Butch Estes said. “This is a tough place to play.”

Barry’s Yunio Barrueta had his seventh double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. He had 10 points in the second half. Anders Haas finished with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Deric Hill and Jevoni Robinson each scored 10 points for the Bucs, who outrebounded the Lions, 36-20.

“We got back to our ways on the glass,” Bucs assistant coach Justin Furr said.

Barry held Saint Leo to six of 17 three-point shooting and 29 points in each half. Devin Crisosto had 21, and Cale Girten 15 for the Lions.

Barry will host No. 4/3 Florida Southern at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
