MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University men’s soccer team suffered its third consecutive loss after dropping a 2-0 decision against rival Lynn Wednesday night.

It was a game filled with physical play, as it has come to be expected between these two heated rivals.

Barry (1-4-0, 0-2-0 SSC) was shut-out for the third time in as many games.

The Fighting Knights (7-0-0, 2-0-0 SSC) entered the match as the top ranked team in the nation and proved to be every bit as good on this night.

The Buccaneers’ goalkeeper, Fred Perez and the defense answered the call in the first half as the Fighting Knights relentless attack. Lynn out-shot Barry 12 to three in the opening period, but Perez tallied four of his career-high five saves keeping the match scoreless after 45 minutes.

It wasn’t until 47th minute mark that Martin Welhert connected on a header following a cross from James Aldred to give the Fighting Knights the 1-0 lead.

The Bucs did not find the equalizer and Julian Halder was able to put the game out of reach when he scored from roughly 25 yards out in the 87th minute.

The Bucs return to action on Saturday, Sep. 22, when they will face the Spartans of Tampa University in Pepin Stadium at 7:30 pm.
