Women's Soccer Prepares For NCAA South Region Tournament
Senior Sofia Jakobson and the Buccaneers head back to NCAA Tournament for first time since 2005.

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Barry University women’s soccer team returns to postseason action for the first time since 2005 this Friday when they face No. 21 Tampa at Barker Family Stadium in the first-round of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament.

For the Buccaneers, (7-6-2, 3-4-1 SSC) it’s been a season filled with highs and lows, and although decimated by injuries, this resilient group battled down the stretch to earn an at-large bid into the tournament.

Awaiting the Buccaneers is a familiar foe in Tampa. The Buccaneers suffered a pair of losses to the Spartans (13-3-4, 5-1-2 SSC) in the regular season during a difficult five-game losing streak in middle of the year. However, the Bucs re-grouped to win four of their final six matches going 4-0-2 down the stretch to make a final push towards the postseason.

Barry’s last appearance in the NCAA Tournament resulted in a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Spartans.

Friday night’s game scheduled kickoff is set for 7 p.m.,  at Barker Family Stadium on the campus of Rollins College. Live-stat and video coverage will be available throughout the tournament.
