MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers bounced the seventh-ranked Rollins Tars in the rubber game of their Sunshine State Conference softball series 1-0 at Buccaneer Field on Friday.

Alexis Yohe (12-5) pitched her second straight shutout over the high-powered Tars, holding them to just one hit, a third-inning single by Amie Halpin. She walked two and struck out four.

Kelly Martinez provided the only offense in the game with a one-out homer to left in the second inning. It was her third homer of the year, to tie for the team lead.

Yohe kept the Tars (35-6, 10-5 SSC) off balance all game long. Of the four base-runners she allowed, only one reached scoring position. With one out in the third, Hillary Brown walked and Halpin followed with a single to left. But Yohe buckled down and struck out Hanna Lovestrand and Veronica Alred to end the threat. After the single by Halpin, Yohe set down 14 of the next 15 batters, including 12 in a row.

In addition to the Martinez homer, Megan Copeland and Ashley Fernandez both had two hits.

Niki Fogle (19-2) was the loser for the Tars. She allowed eight hits and two walks and struck out four to take just her second loss of the season.

The Bucs host their cross-town rivals, the St. Thomas Bobcats, on Wednesday, Apr. 3, with a doubleheader starting at 4:00 pm.
