FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Barry University's Renato Lombardi advanced to the semifinals of the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles Fall Invitational men's tennis tournament with a win over his teammate Saturday.

Lombardi defeated Kevin Sielmann, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals, and will play FGCU's Jordi Vives, a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Central Florida's Pedro Wagner.

Florida Atlantic's Will Neuner and Miami's Victor Mauz meet in Sunday's other semifinal.

Lombardi, a freshman from Lausane, Switzerland, is 3-0 in the season-opening event for select Buccaneers players.

Barry's Leo Vivas and Eduardo Alfonzo defeated Central Florida's Matt Gladstone and Juan Bolona, 8-4, in Saturday's doubles semifinals. The Bucs pair will meet Florida Gulf Coast's Tianyu Bao and Lance Lvovsky in Sunday's championship.

Vivas and Alfonzo beat FAU's Sean Bacha and Jose Fantova, 8-6, in the quarterfinals.

Barry's Romain Costamagna, a junior from France, picked up a 6-1, 6-5 win over Miami's Jack Murphy in the backdraw.

Barry's Eduardo Alfonzo retired in a 7-5, 3-1 loss to Florida Atlantic's Robbie Dubuque in the backdraw.

In the doubles backdraw, Costamagna and Sielman moved on with an 8-4 win over Miami's Mark Schanerman and Henrique Tsukamoto. The Bucs' pair will play in Sunday's backdraw semifinals against UCF's Mario Samson and Jorge Blasco.

At the USTA/ITA Regionals in Lakeland, Barry's Marco Mokrzycki, the No. 1 seed, lost in the semifinals to West Florida's third-seeded Bruno Savi, 6-2, 6-3. Mokrzycki advanced to Saturday's semis with a win over Saint Leo's Aloua Adjenak when the fifth-seeded Lions player retired with Mokrzycki leading, 4-3.

Barry's Fabian Groetsch lost to Lynn's Willi Wolfer, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarterfinals.

In the doubles draw, fourth-seeded Mokrzycki and Groetsch beat No. 1 Vlad Cirla and Wolfer of Lynn, 9-8, in the semifinals. The Bucs' pair will play West Florida's Kevin Ducros and Tony Rajaobelina, the No. 3 seed, in Sunday's 9 a.m. final.
