SSC Tennis Championships to be Staged in Boca Raton
Barry will try to defend the men's and women's SSC championships in Boca Raton this season.

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- South County Regional Park will be the site of the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Tennis Championships, which will be held Apr. 18-20.

The Sunshine State Conference will partner with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission in bringing the tournament to the park. Florida Tech will serve as the host institution.

Last year, Barry captured both the women's and men's SSC titles in Lakeland.

Located in Boca Raton, Fla., the facility at South County Regional Park features 19 lighted all-weather courts. It also includes a full-service pro shop. The 2013 championship will mark the first time the SSC event has been held at the location.

The SSC annually features some of the best tennis teams in NCAA Division II, with conference teams traditionally advancing far into the tournament draw. League teams have won a total of 11 men's and women's NCAA tennis championships, with the Barry women claiming the most recent national title in 2011. At last spring's national tournament, the Barry women and Lynn men each advanced to the semifinal round of competition.

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is a private, not-for-profit organization contracted by Palm Beach County to promote and market the County as a sports and sports tourism destination. The Commission brings sporting events and activities to the County, enhances economic impact, stimulates bed tax revenues (with a focus on the off-season), and maximizes utilization of County facilities.
