Women's Tennis Grounds Top-Ranked Warhawks
Elisabeth Abanda dropped just three games in picking up two points for the Bucs against the Warhawks.

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers grounded the top-rated Warhawks of Auburn-Montgomery 8-1 at the Buccaneer Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon to stay unbeaten this year at 15-0.

The Bucs swept the doubles, despite having to break up the top doubles team of Linda Fritschken and Emma Onilla. Fritschken paired with Blanka Szavay at number two and defeated Jade Curtis and Celine Lenertz 8-4. At the top flight, Anaeve Pain and Kimmy Twelker routed Chanel Cunningham and Paula Diaz 8-2, while at the bottom flight, 13th-ranked Elisabeth Abanda and Karina Goia made short work of Anna Rudolfova and Bright Phakamed 8-1.

Without the injured Onila in the lineup, everyone stepped a flight for the Bucs. At number one, 19th-ranked Goia defeated #2 Curtis 6-4, 7-5. Fritschken, ranked 31st, defeated #38 Diaz 6-0, 6-2. Number nine Abanda rolled over Lenertz 6-2, 6-0 at number four. Cristina Valladares also dominated Rudolfova 6-0, 6-3 at number five. Akemi Mahaema ran into a tough first set against Phakamed but pulled it out for a 7-6 (1), 6-1 win.

The Warhawks (8-6) only point came at number three singles, where Cunningham pulled out a tie-break third set 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 over Szavay.

The Bucs host the Ospreys or NCAA Division I North Florida on Saturday.
