LAKELAND, Fla. – Barry University’s Sonja Larsen and Emma Onila remain in the hunt for the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II South Region Championships women’s singles tournament title.

Larsen, a freshman from Verden, Germany, beat Michelle Fischer of Valdosta State, 6-1, 6-0, in the quarterfinals Sunday. Onila, a junior from Twin Falls, Idaho, beat Rosie Willig of Lynn, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarters.

Barry senior Linda Fritschken, a senior from Berlin, Germany, lost to West Florida’s Monika Kochanova, 6-2, 3-6, 10-6, in the quarters.

Larsen’s semifinal match with top-seeded Val Confalonieri was halted by rain Sunday, as was Onila’s match with Kochanova.
