What Can We Do to Help Support Refugee Resettlement in the United States?

The Center for Human Rights and Social Justice joins Barry University President Sister Linda Bevilacqua in her statement expressing concern over the recent travel ban.  We acknowledge the valued interest of national security, but implementing a ban against all immigrants from seven Muslim countries does not represent the inclusivity and immigration history that is the foundation of America’s greatness.  The solution for protecting our homeland resides in closer vetting of immigrants from all nations and advancing our efforts to identify and reduce “homegrown” terrorism  The Center in its mission to support the human rights of all individuals locally and globally, opposes this unjust, which has the potential to perpetuate misunderstanding, foster hate and divisiveness, and undermine human rights.
