Members of the Barry University community are invited to attend a Holocaust Student Awareness Day hosted by The Holocaust Documentation and Education Center.
Date: Thursday, March 6, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Location: HSC Gym
Join the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center (HDEC) and Barry University as they welcome more than 400 Miami-Dade high school students for a Student Awareness Day.
The HDEC’s Student Awareness Day Series is an interactive, prejudice reduction program that brings together hundreds of students, from different schools, who work together to break down the walls of prejudice and discrimination.
The event will welcome 50 Holocaust survivors who will share their experiences of hate and prejudice and how they endured their torturous conditions. The program will also feature guest speakers Angela King, a former skinhead, Dr. Abraham Gittelson, senior consultant at the Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education, and Howard Finkelstein, a public defender and regular contributor to WSVN with his “Help Me Howard” series.
Barry faculty and staff will have a designated seating area.
