About the Lecture

Esteemed economist Carlos N. Quijano brings a genuinely unique understanding and knowledge to the vital question of what the future holds for Cuba, especially in light of initiatives by U.S. President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raúl Castro to change the relationship between the two nations.

Quijano’s illustrious career includes service as an economic advisor to Cuban government ministries (1959-1961); 25 years at the World Bank (1968-1993), where he held a number of executive positions related to Latin America and the Caribbean; and as an international economic advisor, consultant, and senior university fellow (1994-2012). Quijano was educated at the Universidad de Villanueva, University of Miami, and Columbia University.
