Women's Tennis Moves Into Semis at ITA

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Barry University's women's tennis team is moving on to the semifinals in both singles and doubles at the fall's first event.

Olivia Matuszak and Linda Fritschken each won singles matches Friday at the ITA Regionals hosted by Florida Southern College. Matuszak beat Alex Johanson, 6-1, 6-3 in one match. She also defeated Lynn's Ioana Ivan, 6-2, 6-1 in another.

Fritschken held on to beat Veena Vasquez of Palm Beach Atlantic, 6-3, 7-5 before losing to Florida Tech's Kristina Huba, 6-1, 6-4.

Fritschken and Isabela Miro paired to beat West Florida's Mariana Sonnervig and Luiza Sonnervig, 8-6, to advance.

Barry's Mona Mansour lost her singles match to Huba, 6-0, 6-0.
