MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers improved to 5-0 on the season with an 83-62 win over the Florida Memorial Lions in women’s basketball in the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday night.

The game was an odd one, as the Bucs scored a season-high in points, despite shooting just 38.9 percent from the floor, the second-lowest total of the season. They also allowed a season-high points to the Lions, despite holding them to 25.4 percent shooting, a season-best mark.

The Bucs (5-0) jumped out to a 15-3 lead after the first four minutes and the Lions (0-5) never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way. They took their largest lead of the half, 44-18, on a layup by Champ Horice with 1:17 remaining in the period.

Up 44-20 at the break, the Bucs extended the lead to 33 points, 53-20, on a fast-break basket by Colette Eule with 16:54. The Lions went to a press and sliced into the lead, pulling to 70-57 with 3:24 left on a pair of free throws by Brittany Starling. But the Bucs closed out on a 13-5 run to push the lead back to 21.

Eule led the Bucs with 22 points and added 11 rebounds and seven assists. Jackie Perez added 12 points, while Amanda Frontino chipped in 10. Dominique Dixon also nearly had a triple-double with nine points, a team-best 12 rebounds and seven assist. Danika Pisconeri tied for fourth all-time in Barry history with seven blocked shots. The Lions (0-5) did not have a starter score in double figures, although both Ty’Tetania McClenney and Dominique Jackson came off the bench with 13 points each.

The Bucs jump into Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday as they host the Florida Tech Panthers at 2:00 pm in a rematch of last season’s quarterfinal game of the SSC Tournament. The Panthers won that game 71-68.
