DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association released its first weekly NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards of the season for the period ending February 10.

Junior Adrian English was selected as the South Region Player of the Week after helping the Buccaneers to their best start in program history with a 6-0 start.

English amassed 13 hits in 22 at-bats which included five multi-hit games. The Miami native finished with 11 RBI and five doubles, good for a .591 batting average through the six-game span. The only game in which English did not have multiple hits was the series finale against Shorter University that was cut short due to inclement weather in the sixth inning.

Barry’s six game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday night with a loss to Palm Beach Atlantic at Feinbloom Field.

The Buccaneers will look to rebound from Tuesday night’s loss this weekend as they’re set to take on the Panthers of Florida Tech University.

Friday night’s Sunshine State Conference opener against the Panthers is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be followed by a double-header on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
