Baseball Wins Third Straight To Finish Regular Season

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – For the second straight year the Buccaneers swept the final conference series of the regular season, this time defeating Eckerd 8-5 Monday night at the Turley Sports Complex.

Barry(31-19, 14-10 SSC) picked up where they had left off the night before, putting together four consecutive hits in route to a four run rally to start the game capped off by RBI singles from Tyler Kellmann, Adrian English and J.C. Cardenas.

Senior right-hander Kevin Youst allowed just four earned runs in five innings of work and finished with five K’s to earn the win.

Joeanthony Rivera was spectacular in relief as he allowed just two hits in four scoreless innings of work and struck out four.

The Tritons (15-35, 2-22 SSC) scored five runs on 13 hits but weren’t able to capitalize on opportunities in the middle of the game.

Offensively the Bucs were led by Sheehan Planas-Arteaga and Tyler Kellmann, both finishing with three hits on the night.

Adrian English finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and one RBI to raise his average to .392, highest in the Sunshine State Conference.

The Buccaneers finished the regular season on a strong note, winning their final three games and now await the possibility of earning an at-large bid to the South Regional NCAA tournament.
