ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Barry University sophomore middle blocker Laine Cielena was named to the Eckerd Volleyball Classic All-Tournament team as voted on by the event's coaches.
Cielena, a 6-2 product of Krimuldas Novads, Latvia/Murjani Sports Gym, had seven kills, six digs and an ace while hitting .115 in Barry's loss to then-unbeaten Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. In a sweep of Wilmington, the Buccaneers middle had nine kills and four blocks, hitting .240.
This year Cielena leads Barry with 53 kills.
The Buccaneers will host Palm Beach Atlantic at 7 p.m. Friday and the Alumni Match at 4 p.m. Saturday in Barry University's Health & Sports Center.
