Barry Volleyball Hosts Nova Southeastern 7 p.m. Tuesday

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's volleyball team will host rival Nova Southeastern at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Health & Sports Center.

In between sets 2 and 3, Barry's School of Human Performance & Leisure Sciences will honor the student-athletes who earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average to receive President's List honors in the spring. Additionally, all student-athletes who earned Athletic Director's List and Dean's List honors will also be recognized during a special ceremony in the lobby outside the gym.

Barry (9-6, 2-4 Sunshine State Conference) beat Nova Southeastern (8-7, 3-3) in both matches last season. NSU's last win over the Bucs was Oct. 25, 2011 in Davie, Fla.

The Bucs rank first in the SSC in opponents hitting percentage at .151. The Sharks are allowing opponents to hit .172 per match, which ranks fourth in the conference. Nova is second in the league in digs per set (15.51) and Barry is fourth at 14.89.

Nova's Candice Johnson is averaging 4.60 digs per set, which ranks second in the league. Barry's Brittany Jaco ranks fourth at 4.53. Barry's Ivana Didanovic ranks second in the SSC in blocks per set at 1.08. NSU's Sydney Cook and Barry's Laine Cielena are tied for third at 1.05. Cook leads the league with 58 blocks, and Didanovic is second with 55.
