DAVIE, Fla.—The ninth-ranked Barry Buccaneers scored a 3-2 win over the Nova Southeastern Sharks at the NSU Soccer Complex on Wednesday night.

Jojo Ferigerio made her first goal of the season count as she notched the game-winner in the 72nd minute, off a corner by Shanice Robe.

The Bucs (6-1-1, 3-0-0 SSC) jumped on top in the first half thanks to a pair of scores from Lavinia Nkomo.  In the 22nd minute, Amanda Traynor popped a shot off the crossbar and Nkomo was there to clean up the rebound. Six minutes later, Lauren Manna hit the post and Tamara Vuckovich took the rebound and passed to Nkomo for the goal.

The Sharks (4-4-0, 1-3-0 SSC) trimmed the lead to 2-1 just after halftime. Carley Montgomery lifted a long, high pass into the box and found the head of Sarah Keville for the goal.

The Sharks added a late goal in the 86th minute that trimmed the margin to one. Sierra Lelli chipped the ball over the head of Barry keeper Paula Forero from about 15 yards out.

Forero, making her first start of the season, picked up the win despite allowing two goals. She had one save. The Bucs held a 16-6 edge in shots but NSU keeper Amanda Kopale had five saves to keep the game close.

The Bucs return home on Saturday, Oct. 11 to host the Tampa Spartans. Kick is set for 4:30 pm. The game will be carried on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network, powered by Stretch Internet.
