Health Alert: Students have access to Telemedicine through Healthiest You.

I would like to remind everyone that there is a very useful health tool available to students called Telemedicine. This service is an excellent resource for individuals who are experiencing an episodic illness like Influenza, and it can be accessed from the comfort of your home. However, Telemedicine is not to be used if you are experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, or if you have been injured. For serious issues, call 911 or go to the nearest urgent care or emergency room.

Students have access to Telemedicine through Healthiest You.

Telemedicine has partnered with Barry University to provide around-the-clock access (24/7/365) to U.S. board–certified physicians in the event you are too ill or too far to utilize Student Health Services. Simply call (855) 870-5858 or go to student.healthiestyou.com and set up your account. You can also download the HY app on your mobile device.

This is a free service for students with the United Healthcare student health insurance. If you have private insurance you may have access to a telehealth service through your insurance company. If not, any student — regardless of insurance coverage — can access a doctor through HY for only $40.

For more information, call Student Health Services at (305) 899-3750.

Try to stay healthy by practicing good health habits, including washing your hands frequently; wiping down hard surfaces, especially in public places (particularly in airplanes); eating a healthy diet filled with vegetables and fruits; and staying hydrated by drinking at least eight 8 oz. of water a day. It is not too late for you or your children to get the Flu shot if you have not done so; however, many places are out of vaccinations, so call before you go.

In Good Health.
