Student club hosts sock drive for Lotus House

The American Association of Women Podiatrists (AAWP), a student club at Barry University, recently held a sock drive to benefit Lotus House, a local organization that provides support and additional aid to the homeless.

Through the on-campus sock drive, the club was able to collect 227 pairs of socks, which were then distributed to Lotus House. All socks were donated by Barry University students. As part of the distribution, 19 members of the AAWP participated in a personalized tour of the organization's new building.

In addition to the sock drive, the AAWP is also collecting toys for children of the Yucatan Crippled Children’s Project. This is part of a continuing humanitarian effort to aid those affected by Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, which crippled the region. Toys can be dropped off Wiegand Hall and the Podiatry building.
