Dr. Jill Levenson named among top 100 most influential contemporary social work faculty

Dr. Jill Levenson, professor of social work in the Ellen Whiteside McDonnell School of Social Work at Barry University, has been named by the Journal of Social Service Research as being among the top 100 most influential contemporary social work faculty by the H-Index.

According to the journal, “the top 100 most influential contemporary social work faculty were identified, resulting in a listing of individuals who have published relatively large numbers of scholarly works, which themselves have been subsequently highly cited.”

“I am honored to be included among this very impressive group of scholars. I want to acknowledge the many inter-disciplinary collaborators I've worked with over the years. Social Work researchers have much to offer to advance evidence-based practices and policies. When our research can be applied to real-world problems and real-life solutions, social workers can make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable communities and marginalized populations,” Levenson said. “I am proud to be a social worker and proud to be a part of the School of Social Work at Barry University, where we are on the cutting-edge of innovative research and clinical practices.”

Levenson is a SAMHSA-trained internationally recognized expert in trauma-informed care. She has published over 100 articles about policies and clinical interventions designed to prevent sexual abuse, including projects funded by the National Institutes of Justice and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. Her groundbreaking research on the link between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and sexually abusive behavior has paved the way for innovations in treatment programs that now utilize a trauma-informed approach.
