Biology student Sabrina Rodriguez awarded first-place for poster presentation at Undergraduate Research Symposium

Barry University Biology student Sabrina Rodriguez was awarded first-place for her  poster presentation on bacterial biofilms at the 7th Annual Life Sciences South Florida (LSSF) Undergraduate Research Symposium,  held at Florida Atlantic University on April 6.

Barry University was one of 13 South Florida institutions that participated in the symposium. LSSF is an organization that brings together an array of institutions, including universities, colleges, economic development agencies, research institutes and industry partners that focus on the life sciences. The LSSF symposium recognizes the outstanding work of South Florida undergraduate students. Barry undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences presented their research in mathematics, biology and computer sciences.

The wining presentation was co-authored with fellow student Genesis Munoz, under the supervision of biology faculty research mentors Drs. Christoph Hengartner and Leticia Vega.
