Alan Koesten is the Director of Montessori Programs in the Adrian Dominican School of Education. He received an MS in Montessori Education and a BS in Elementary Education. He holds a Montessori credential at the Elementary I-II (6-12 years old) level, as well as State of Florida certifications in Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education, Gifted and English for Speakers of Other Languages. Mr. Koesten is at the dissertation phase of his PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, with an anticipated completion of May 2015.
Prior to joining the University, Mr. Koesten taught in both public and private Montessori schools. He taught both elementary and high school in a large public school system for over 20 years and has also had experience as head of a Montessori school. Mr. Koesten is a member of several local, national, and international professional organizations and serves as a volunteer on-site verifier for the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE). Mr. Koesten has been a presenter at local and national conferences.
