Counseling Program’s Beta Upsilon Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota receives national recognition

The Counseling Program’s Beta Upsilon Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota (BU-CSI) within the Adrian Dominican School of Education recently received national recognition during CSI days at the American Counseling Association Conference in New Orleans. Chi Sigma Iota is the Counseling Academic and professional Honor Society International.

The following are the national awards received:

Outstanding Chapter Award (Small Chapter)

Beta Upsilon Chapter — Barry University. In recognition of exemplary activities and programs
Faculty Advisors: Dr. Jennifer Casani and Dr. Raul Machuca.

Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award 

Dr. Raul Machuca — Barry University. For excellence and commitment to the counseling profession as a chapter faculty advisor.

The Beta Upsilon Chapter also received recognition, along with Florida International University and University of Florida, for its involvement in the Delta Iota, Beta Upsilon, & Beta Chapters’ 2018-19 Statewide/regional Networking Grant: “Rolling Up Our Sleeves: Counselors' Response to Community Crises.” 

This is a recognition of the outstanding work done by our student organization, its members and its board under the leadership of BU-CSI President Davrielle Valley, President-Elect Maria Alysa, Secretary Rafael Molina, Treasurer Daena Winkle, doctoral student-at-large Leo Balseiro, master student-at-large Sarah Matthews, Public Relations Officer Kristine Garcia, and newsletter and historian Ashley Dominguez.
