Letter from the Director

Welcome to the Career Development Center.

Every student holds the promise of endless potential and infinite possibilities, and the Career Development Center team is here to help you navigate this path to success!

Contrary to what a lot of people may think, the Career Development Center is not the place you go during your graduating semester to try to find a job.  At Barry University, we see career development as a process involving 3 phases: 1.) Discovering Your Calling, 2.) Exploring Your Calling and 3.) Embarking on Your Journey.

Within our Liaison Model, every student automatically has a career counselor based on their major. During the Discovery phase, your personal career counselor will work with you to help you to identify your values, interest, skills and personality as you reflect on how you can use your talents to make a difference in our world.  In the Exploration phase, students are encouraged to explore various paths, to utilize the career center resources and participate in events to find internships, part-time jobs, mentors, shadowing opportunities, as well as attend networking events. Once we’ve helped you find clarity in your career paths, our students stand out among the crowd as they embark on their career journey and obtain desirable jobs, or enter graduate or professional school.

As a staff we are dedicated to providing a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment, where our students and alumni are empowered to design their own version of career success. We work closely with faculty and we are committed to developing and maintaining external partnerships with businesses and organizations locally, as well as nationally and internationally, where our students can contribute and respond to the needs of the community.

We welcome the students and alumni of Barry University to take advantage of the resources and knowledgeable staff here in the Career Development Center and we look forward to helping you Discover, Explore and Embark on you career journey!

Kind regards,

John Moriarty, Director
