About the Program Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology, MS

Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology (SEPP) program focuses on understanding and analyzing the psychological mechanisms and consequences of human movement in sport, physical education, and exercise contexts. The program offers extensive opportunities for research and applied practice with opportunities both on campus with Barry’s DII Athletics department as well as off-campus with other local sport, exercise, and performance organizations.

You’ll will also learn from experienced professors who are practicing Certified Mental Performance Coaching (CMPC) consultants. This means you will not only learn the theoretical foundation of SEPP but will also learn vicariously from the professors’ real-world experience and your own hands-on learning.

The program can be tailored to your professional goals with an applied track, thesis track, dual track, and even SEPP/MBA dual degree offering. Whether you are considering a career working directly with athletes and professionals as a CMPC, a coach, or as a licensed psychologist, the SEPP program will equip you with the knowledge and skills to help others improve their performance and/or psychological well-being.
