Bucky The Mascot

The Bucky Spirit Award was established to aid Barry University students who believe that they have what it takes to be one of the most important members of the Barry U Community: Bucky the Mascot.

Must be a full-time student at Barry University and demonstrate a commitment to school spirit through working various events as Bucky the Mascot. Recipients will be required to complete a minimum number of events to maintain scholarship.

Campus Activities Board (CAB)

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) is a student run organization in the Office of Student Life. The purpose is to provide quality entertainment and activities to the student community, while creating a vibrant, high energy atmosphere. Want to join in on the fun? Commuter Assistant

The Office of Student Life is currently seeking Federal Work-Study Commuter Assistants to support the Graduate Assistant and department with programs, events/activities and services for Commuter Students. Commuter Assistants will provide services and maintenance of two Commuter Lounges. These students will serve as a resource for all commuter happenings and support staff with events including set-up and breakdown.

ELP Peer Mentor

Peer Mentors are upperclassmen facilitators for the Emerging Leadership Program, responsible for coordinating activities with their mentees and assisting with freshmen students' transition during the fall semester. Peer Mentors will be assigned 2-3 mentees that they will meet with throughout the program.

Requirements: Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are eligible to apply. Peer Mentors must attend 2 trainings and participate in all six ELP sessions

Greek Life Assistant

The Office of Student Life is currently seeking Federal Work-Study Greek Life Assistant to assist with the overall management and development of fraternities and sororities. This individual will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of Greek bulletins, directories, and other publications. They will also be required to attend specified meeting/events and provide administrative assistance as needed.

Orientation Leader (O-Team)

Orientation Leaders are upperclassmen students who welcome new and transfer students to the Barry community. Orientation Leaders are responsible for 20-40 new students and serve as mentors during the Orientation process. Orientation Leaders serve as liaisons to all guests during Orientation including parents and families.

Requirements: Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are eligible to apply. Orientation Leaders must be in good judicial and academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.7 or higher. Orientation Leaders are required to attend Fall and Spring Orientations as well as weeklong trainings prior to Orientation.

Peer Minister

The Peer Ministry program provides an opportunity for student leaders to participate with Campus Ministry in its work of faith formation and retreats, interreligious affairs, service and justice opportunities, and supporting the overall spiritual and religious needs of the Barry community. Peer Ministers have an expressed desire to grow in their faith and support the faith of others. Peer Ministers make a commitment to support Campus Ministry’s mission and programs and to meet on a regular basis for training, reflection, and prayer.

Resident Assistant

Assistants are full-time graduate or undergraduate students who live in the residence halls to assist students in their academic and personal development. The Resident Assistant works toward developing and maintaining a community environment in which students can best meet their academic responsibilities. Resident Assistants will implement a wide variety of programming to facilitate community building, perform emergency on call rotation, and perform administrative duties as well as other aspects identified by the Housing and Residence Life Department.

Requirements: 2.75 cumulative and semester GPA, good judicial standing with the University, have completed one semester at Barry University (12 credits), application to be submitted electronically, resume (reviewed by the Career Development Center), 2 letters of recommendation, must be available for individual and group interview process on the specified dates.

Note: The RA Selection process takes place each semester and always for the following year; i.e. Fall 2020 RA Selection Process is to hire Resident Assistants for Fall 2021.

Student Mission Leader

The role of Student Mission Leaders is to facilitate event programming and office management in the Office of Mission Engagement. This position requires an interest in event planning and desire to advance the Barry University Mission and Core Commitments. Student Organization Council Involvement Consultant

The Student Organization Council (SOC) is an organization that oversees all the clubs and organizations on campus. SOC believes that an individual’s decision to get involved on campus is vital to truly enjoy their years at Barry, and essential to flourish beyond their college life. Involvement Consultants will be tasked with assisting clubs and organizations in various capacities such as recruitment, event planning, and marketing.

Student Wellness Ambassador Team (SWAT)

Campus Recreation and Wellness has the important role of keeping the Barry University Community fit, healthy, and having fun. The Student Wellness Ambassador Team ("SWAT") of work-study students are advocates in promoting and executing events, sharing health information, and motivating students, faculty and staff to live a well-rounded and healthy well-being.

Tracks Peer Facilitator

The TRACKS Peer Facilitator position is open to all Barry University undergrad and graduate students that are interested in furthering their inclusive leaderships skills. Facilitators will be trained on the Intergroup Dialogue (IGD) model to facilitate the program with high school and college students. More Information.
