November 11 - November 18 Founders' Week 2023 Founders’ Week honors the spirit of our founders, the Adrian Dominican sisters and celebrates Barry University traditions. Through service, scholarly, and joyful events, we highlight the University’s faithfulness to our motto – Learn, Reflect, Serve and build connections that unite students, faculty, staff and alumni for generations to come.

Founders’ Day of Service

Saturday, November 11 | 8:30 am – 1:30 pm |With lunch to follow, Meet in Andreas 111  

Join students, faculty, staff, and alumni for the fifth annual Founders' Day of Service, the kickoff event of Founders' Week. Participants will acknowledge and demonstrate Barry University’s commitment to collaborative service in community settings.

Founders' Week Mass

Monday, November 13 | 4:00 pm | Cor Jesu Chapel

The traditional Founders' Week Mass honors the vision and legacy of our Founders, the Adrian Dominican Sisters for whom Barry is a sponsored institution. All are invited to a reception immediately following. All are welcome!  

Day of Recognition

Tuesday, November 14 |In-person and Livestream | 2:30pm for invited attendees |3:00pm for livestream 

Celebrate Barry’s Faculty and Staff who have reached a years of service milestone, received a Faculty Award and/or were nominated for a Staff Excellence Award. Invitations to attend the event in-person will be sent out to all honorees, award winners, nominees and supervisors. We invite all others in the Barry community to join us through Zoom.

Core Commitments Luncheon: Andreas School of Business and Public Administration

The Andreas School of Business and Public Administration will be celebrating its accomplishments and demonstrate how it embraces and embodies Barry’s Core Commitments: Knowledge and Truth, Inclusive Community, Social Justice, and Collaborative Service. Interactive discussion panels featuring current students and alumni will highlight the myriad ways in which our programs and initiatives promote personal and professional success, social mobility and positive societal impact.

Climate Change 101: Causes, Impacts, and Solutions to the Climate Crisis in South Florida

Wednesday, November 15 | 6:30 p.m. | Andreas 111 

Join PACT and the CLEO Institute to learn how climate change is impacting South Florida and what you can do about it. Miami-Dade PACT (People Acting for Community Together) is a direct-action organization focused on holding our public officials accountable for the fair and just treatment of community members in Miami-Dade County. The CLEO Institute is an organization exclusively dedicated to climate crisis education and advocacy in Miami-Dade County.

On this Give Miami Day, it’s time to join us in giving back and making a difference. Laser Tag

Thursday, November 16 | 5:30-7:30pm | Bevilacqua Courtyard

Laser tag is a great way to ease everyday stress and frustration or to simply go out and have fun. Come with your friends, roommate, suitemate, or alone, but leave with new memories with your teammates as you battle to eliminate the other team.
