Transfer Monitoring Regulation

The U.S. Department of Education requires that students who transfer from one institution to another during the same award year undergo a Transfer Student Monitoring process. Students transferring to Barry University will be monitored through the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) database for any changes in their financial aid history.

The Financial Aid Office must make sure that students have eligibility for Pell Grant and Loan programs that may have been partially used at the prior college/university. The institution sends the student’s name to the monitoring list and waits seven (7) days until the school can disburse financial aid funds. Transfer monitoring must occur, even if the student did not receive financial aid at any other school(s). Furthermore, during the seven (7) days window, Pell Grant and Loans will not be disbursed and the award will be placed on hold until this process is complete.

This monitoring hold is required to ensure your federal student aid history is updated between the U.S. Department of Education, Barry University, and your prior University or College (if applicable).
