Carolyn Hart, PhD, RN, CNE
Carolyn Hart, PhD, RN, CNE is Chair of Nursing at Barry University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Dr. Hart earned her diploma in Nursing at the Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing where she also received the Weidman Award in Nursing, Lancaster General's highest honor for nurses. She obtained her BSN from Chamberlain College, MSN from South University and PhD in Nursing from University of Missouri. Dr. Hart's clinical expertise is in trauma-neuro intensive care nursing.
Dr. Hart has held numerous roles in academia as a clinical instructor, faculty, program administrator and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. She has extensive experience in on-line education; new program development; learning outcomes assessment and regional and professional accreditation.
Dr. Hart is the only nurse to have completed all three Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing leadership academies: the Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy, the Emerging Education Administrator Institute, and the Experienced Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy. She currently serves on Sigma's Education Advisory Board and is a past regional coordinator.
Dr. Hart's research interests include refining a psychometric tool to measure student persistence in online courses that she developed as part of her doctoral studies. She is currently assessing student perceptions of engagement in online courses. We are pleased to have Dr. Carolyn Hart join our leadership team.
