Lauren Schwal, MSN, RN-BC
Lauren Schwal is prepared as a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in high risk maternal/child nursing and has her MSN and BSN from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, Downstate Medical Center. She is currently enrolled in a DNP program with a specialization in Educational Leadership, and anticipates graduation in June, 2016. Lauren is currently doing research into cultural competence and student advisement.
She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and is also certified in Professional Staff Development (RN-BC). Her passion and specialty practice is pediatrics. Lauren is the course coordinator for pediatrics and has introduced pediatric simulation into the pediatrics and role transition courses at Barry. In addition to pediatrics, Lauren’s love is teaching and mentoring students. She is an active student advisor and faculty consultant for the Nursing Students’ Association at Barry. Lauren is also the BLS/CPR coordinator for the Barry University College of Nursing.
