Dr. Sathees Chandra

It gives me tremendous satisfaction and joy that I can transmit my ideas in the classroom, and in doing so impart knowledge to students. I have spent the majority of my time and effort for the past 13 years creating biology/biomedical courses (Bioinformatics, Genetics, Genomics, Biotechnology and Physiology) and developing my teaching skills in order to become an efficient, accessible, demanding, useful and caring teacher. Teaching at any university requires many innovative strategies in the classroom because of its diverse student body. My approach to teaching takes into consideration one fundamental assertion: both teaching and learning are intertwined activities. I believe that enthusiastic and dynamic lecturing not only captures the attention but also the imagination of students.

My primary teaching duties at Barry University consist of lecture, laboratory and discussion sections of the following courses.

  • Molecular Genetics
  • Bioinformatics
  • Medical Informatics
  • Graduate Research
  • Advanced Study
  • Math Skills for Medical Professionals

I have also taught following courses below at both undergraduate and graduate level in the past 13 years.

Ecology, Evolution and Genetics Applications of Biotechnology
Independent Study/Research Bioinformatics
Molecular Genetics Introduction to Genome Analysis
Organismic BiologyGraduate Research
Science as a Way of KnowingMolecular Genetics
