Terri Rocafort is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner who joined Barry University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences as an Assistant Professor and the Interim Director of the Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice Specializations.Â Originally from central Illinois, Terri earned a Diploma in Nursing from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing.Â Living in the Miami area since 1989, she has held multiple positions in Nursing Administration in Women’s Services Departments and is a previous program director for an ASN program. Â Terri holds active memberships in the Palm Beach County Nurse Practitioner Council, National League for Nurses, and Florida Nurses Association. She is also a certified inpatient obstetric nurse.
Ms. Rocafort believes in life-long learning exemplified through role modeling.Â She is currently a PhD student where her research interests involve the education and learning processes of Generation Y nursing students, focusing on the transition to practice and competence. Â She has a special interest in interactive learning strategies, online learning, and evaluation of nursing education specifically responding to the Institute of Medicine, Future of Nursing.Â Â Terri completed a quantitative study for her graduate degree “The Relationship between Prenatal Breast-Feeding Education on Postpartum Breast-Feeding Satisfaction of Primiparas”. Â Her other research interest lies in women’s health, specifically gestation diabetes and the relationship to the conversion to Type 2 diabetes.
