Anesthesiology Program Director named Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Health Sciences

Dr. Lonar Tony Umadhay, Director and Assistant Professor of Barry University's Anesthesiology program was recently named Associated Dean for Academic Affairs for the College of Health Sciences.

Originally from the Philippines, Umadhay completed his undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. He obtained his Master of Science in nursing degree from Florida International University and his Doctorate in Philosophy from Barry University.

His current research interest focuses on minorities and vulnerable populations. In 2009, Umadhay was the recipient of the New York Life Doctoral Fellowship Award presented by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation.

Umadhay was past president of the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists and served on the National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.

In 2013, he  received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Florida International University's Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences for his leadership in nursing education and exceptional professional achievements.
