Convenient Study Options
Summer and Winter Terms
The Hispanic / Latino theology and ministry courses are offered in the summer and winter terms. This summer/winter term option enables you to handle the demands of getting an advanced degree in practical theology (Doctor of Ministry or Master of Arts in Practical Theology) or a certificate while managing your other responsibilities. You can complete your graduate theology degree or a certificate even if you live out of the South Florida area or out-of-state; you are required to be in residence for only two weeks in June and again in January.
You will receive your syllabi six-weeks before each residency period. All books can be purchased online. Assignments can be emailed to the professors. During your two-week residency, you will attend classes five days a week. You will then have six weeks to complete any additional requirements, usually a research paper. Faculty members are available for consultation either by phone or email.
The Department makes arrangements for student housing with a local hotel during residency periods. The hotel is conveniently located near campus and is situated on Florida’s scenic waterways. A reduced fee is charged, payable to the Department. If you intend to take advantage of this housing, please notify the Department of your intended date of arrival. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 305-899-3469.
If you are pursuing a Master of Arts in Practical Theology or Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in Hispanic/Latino theology and ministry, you may also attend the traditional fall and spring semesters. That way you can spread your program over the academic year, while picking up your Hispanic/Latino concentration courses during the summer and winter terms. These courses are also designed for working professionals, meeting once per week, generally from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. You can enroll in one to three classes per semester.
