May 2007: Sharon Kegeles named official Tourism Ambassador for the island country of Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles.

May 2007

While on location in Bonaire teaching SES 311: Tropical Diving Environments Sharon Kegeles, the Facilitator of Barry University's Sport Management - Diving Industry Program was honored as an official Ambassador for the Country of Bonaire. Bestowed by the Minister of Tourism upon those who go to great lengths to promote the country of Bonaire's tourism and public relations, this is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an individual who is not a native Bonairian.

Ms. Kegeles has been traveling to the island destination since 1986 and currently plans between one and three diving trips per year to Bonaire. The Woman Diving Hall of Fame Member was taken by surprise when this honor was bestowed upon her on a dock in front of Captain Don's Habitat while she was supervising the SES 311: Tropical Diving Environments course.
