November, 2008: SMDI students earn "Honorable Mention" in NAUI Worldwide "Just Dive" Photo Contest and win four tickets to dive facilities at Disney World Orlando
Creating and photographing an underwater campsite has been a vision for quite some time for Sport Management – Diving Industry Sophomore Mark Wallerstein and the annual NAUI Worldwide Photo Contest gave Mark the means to complete this goal.
As any good diver knows; the benefits to having a buddy are unfathomable and Mark knew he was going to need help and enlisted the help of fellow classmates Roberto Santini and Cliff Gayle. Worling in a team, the three of them sunk an entire camp site in Barry University's Penafort Pool complete with a tropical backdrop as Mark captured the scene with Cliff and Carlos lounging on lawn chairs.
Held on an annual basis, the NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) "Just Dive" Photo Contest challenges photographers from all over the world to capture photos pertaining to a particular theme. This year's theme was capturing the diving lifestyle with the top entrants earning the right to be featured in the NAUI Worldwide "Just Dive" Calendar. Not only did their photo entitled: "This is How We Just Dive" earn them the right to be featured as the photo of the month for March, but earning "Honorable Mention" won them a trip to dive the "Living Seas" exhibit at Disney World Orlando in November of 2009!
