Miami Dolphins partnership brings football to BarryU

Are you ready for some football? Barry University finally has a team. UM has the Hurricanes and FIU has the Panthers and now Barry has the Dolphins.

Thanks to new collaboration between the two organizations, Barry University is proud to call the Miami Dolphins their football team. The new alliance makes BarryU a Proud Partner of the Dolphins and will bring both football and professional development opportunities to Barry’s students.

There are a lot of perks to having a pro football team as your school’s team. The new partnership will bring members of the Dolphins organization to Barry University for speaking engagements. In addition, the Dolphins will play host to a job fair at Sun Life Stadium for Barry students and interview Barry students for prospective internship programs.

“Barry University is excited to partner with Miami’s hometown Dolphins,” said Sara Herald, vice president for institutional advancement and external affairs. “This exciting partnership will present Barry’s students with unique opportunities for experiential learning with one of the most dynamic organizations in South Florida.”

As a Proud Partner of the Dolphins, additional benefits include various in-game promotions and advertising which will aid in helping Barry create impactful impressions both locally and nationally.

As part of the partnership, Barry University students and alumni will attend two Dolphins games this season. The school will be in full force to cheer on the Dolphins on October 12 when they face the Packers and November 2 when they take on the Chargers.  Barry will host tailgate parties at both games that will be open to all students, staff, and alumni.

Though a leader among NCAA Division II athletic programs, Barry remains one of the only major colleges in South Florida without an NCAA football program.

“Currently, there is only one NCAA Division II institution in the state of Florida that sponsors football (Florida Institute of Technology, in Melbourne)” said director of athletics Mike Covone. “Travel costs and facilities would be challenges for Barry.”

However with the new partnership, Barry University joins the ranks of the Canes, Panthers, and Owls in bringing football to BarryU.
