Time to Shine

More than 50 young girls experienced “College Day” at Barry last November as part of the Honey Shine Mentoring program.

A part of Alonzo Mourning Charities, Inc., Honey Shine provides positive experiences that nurture the mind, body and soul of young women in at-risk situations by enlightening their paths and creating balance in young lives.

The girls, ages 12 to 18, were welcomed by Barry President Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, PhD, and participated in mock college classes as well as wellness classes designed to encourage the girls to maintain a healthy and balanced body, mind and spirit. Tracy Mourning, who founded the program, was also on hand for the event.

Tracy Mourning, founder of the Honey Shine Mentoring Program, joined several girls for 'College Day' held on Barry's campus in November. The organization provides positive experiences for young women in at-risk situations.
